The Home Of La Trappe - Brewery De Koningshoeven

The brewery at de Koningshoeven is very special and has been since the end of the 19th century when a small group of monks made their home there. They founded the monastery and decided to brew ale – La Trappe was born! From that point, it has become the cradle of La Trappe Trappist. From within the walls of the abbey, and still, under the supervision and responsivity of the monks, they produce some of the finest trappiest ales in the world. And all while abiding to the principles that give them the exclusive right to be called a trappiest product.

Brewery de Koningshoeven is still one of the few Trappist breweries in the world which is authorised to use the ‘Authentic Trappist Product’ logo. Ale can only be called Trappist ale when it has been brewed between the four walls of a Trappist monastery, under the supervision of the monastery’s monks, and when part of the proceeds is earmarked for charity.

La Trappe Trappist is a pure, honest, Dutch Ale that gives you the chance to discover what it is to enjoy. The most important ingredient that is inextricably linked to the monks: silence.

The La Trappe silence can be tasted in our ‘ Taste the silence’ box – filled with a selection of the Blond, Dubbel, Triple and Quad.
